I am proud to report that I have just earned by CFRE (Certified Fundraising Executive) designation! A voluntary credential that is recognized worldwide, the CFRE signifies a confident, ethical fundraising professional. In 2017, the American National Standards Institute (ANSI) accredited CFRE certification under the ANSI/ISO/IEC 17024 standard for personnel certification programs, making the CFRE credential the world’s only accredited certification for philanthropic fundraising professionals.
I have been a longstanding member of my Association of Fundraising Professionals chapter (2011), absorbing all that was offered in terms of professional development. I reached a point where I felt confident that I had the skills, knowledge, background and experience (and the eligibility points!) to sit for this incredibly challenging exam, and pass. My grants career is only augmented by my holistic understanding of the entire fundraising schema.
I also could not have done it without a scholarship from my AFP chapter, supporting my professional development when I really needed it. My chapter’s mission is “to empower, support, and engage individuals and organizations who fundraise in our community,” and financial assistance is one way they live that mission. Thanks, Central Ohio AFP!
The CFRE designation added to my signature will show my colleagues, friends, clients, donors, and others that I value professional growth and advancement, and I don’t shy away from a challenge. It is a milestone I am pleased and honored to share with many other professional fundraisers in Central Ohio and around the world!
